Pearson describes seven levels across Kindergarten through Grade 12. The chart below is a starting point, not a promise that every school will administer the same level or format.

Grade Typical level Guide
Kindergarten A Level A
Grade 1 B Level B
Grade 2 C Level C
Grade 3 D Level D
Grades 4–5 E Level E
Grades 6–8 F Level F
Grades 9–12 G Level G

What to confirm with the school

Ask which level and form your child will take, whether it is paper or online, whether directions are read aloud, and how results will be used. Pearson lists paper administration for K–12 and online administration for grades 2–12. A local school can provide the details that apply to your child.

How to use the level chart

The A–G matches describe typical OLSAT 8 grades: A for Kindergarten, B for Grade 1, C for Grade 2, D for Grade 3, E for Grades 4–5, F for Grades 6–8, and G for Grades 9–12. They help families choose relevant examples, but the school chooses the actual form. Ask whether the planned administration uses paper or an available online level, how directions will be given, and which score report will be shared.

Question types change with level

Early levels emphasize familiar pictures and spoken directions. Across the levels, figure analogies, matrices, and series remain useful reasoning families, while number series, numeric inference, and number matrices are listed at D–G. Use the illustrated nonverbal guides to see original examples, then choose a free practice level for a short mixed set. These examples teach reasoning; they do not reproduce secure test items.
